Prof Silvia Ferrari is chosen for the Frits Huyse Award 2025
Prof Silvia Ferrari is Consultant Psychiatrist, PhD in Psychiatry ands Associate Professor in Psychiatry at the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia (Italy).
Silvia was born in Modena, Italy, on March 11th, 1973. She graduated in 1998 in Medicine & Surgery at the Medical School of University of Modena & Reggio Emilia, Modena, Italy. In the same University she became consultant in Psychiatry in 2002 and gained her PhD degree in 2006. In 2008 she entered at the University of Modena & Reggio Emilia as Researcher in Psychiatry, and in 2018 as Associate Professor, serving in the following undergraduate and post-graduate schools and courses: Medicine; Nursing Sciences; Psychiatric Rehabilitation; General Practice; Occupational Therapy; Health Assistance; School of specialisation in Psychiatry.
Since 2022, she is the founder and manager of the Service for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatics at the Reggio Emilia General Hospital, Reggio Emilia, Italy. Previously, from 2008 to 2021, she worked as consultant psychiatrist at the Service for Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatics of the Modena General Hospital, Modena, Italy.
Since 2003 she has been member of the Italian Society of Psychiatry, past-regional coordinator for Emilia-Romagna of the Young Psychiatrist project of the same Society, past-President of the regional section Emilia-Romagna. Since 2004 she has been member of the Italian Society of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry, as Secretary since 2008.
She has been involved in the EACLPP and its evolution in EAPM since 1999, also serving as member of the Council Board from 2009 to 2018; in 2007 and 2018 she was member of the Local Organizing Committee of the Annual Conferences (Bologna and Verona).
Her main interests in research and training activities are the following: somatic symptom disorders and medically unexplained physical symptoms, organization of CLP services, delirium, suicide, trans-cultural psychiatry.
Prof Silvia Ferrari will give a masterclass and will be interviewed about her life and work by Fritz Stiefel at the EAPM 2025 Conference in Munich.
